Ægishjalmur - also referred to as “helm of awe”. Used over the forehead or as a tattoo by viking warriors, it is also said to have been scratched or drawn inside of battle helmets. The rune was for protection in battle. It is also said to awoke fear in ones enemies. A literal translation is ‘terror helm’
